    The ARChive is Up!
The ARChive is a web application with a database of events put on by ARC clubs, with information and reflection about each. Through this database, we can all share tactics, tools, methods and their relative benefits. Hopefully, the Brandeis Activist Community will use this tool learn from each other, so that we all benefit from better events. Please add your club's recent events!

{Sds_button.jpg} Students for a Democratic Society
    What?
In the 60s, SDS was the largest anti-war student organization, responsible for mobilizing mass resistance against the war in Vietnam. However, by 1969, the organization had split into factions, birthing the Weatherman Underground Organization, and the Worker Student Alliance.
We are the 'new' SDS. We were born on MLK Jr. Day 2006 and have grown since - attempting to learn from the failures and successes of the New Left of the 60s. Again we find ourselves in a time of unending war, and we need another national student organization to mobilize resistance and fight back! http://newsds.org/
We are also Brandeis SDS - a non-heirarchical consensus based organization. We fucking rock.
    Who?
We're fucking sweet. Come to our meetings.
    Why?
Students for a Democratic Society is a national organization by and for students fighting for a society based on equality, tolerance, and peace. Our current system of naked exploitation, barbed cruelty, and enforced ignorance benefits the few at the expense of millions of workers, women, racial and sexual minorities. Placed in universities in order to eventually take over this society, students need to organize and ACT UP before shit gets (somehow) even worse.
Students for a Democratic Society has but one mission: to fuck up all of your –isms. We want to put an end to the exploitative system of capitalism, tear down the walls of racism, and smash the glass ceiling put up by sexism. We’re doing it because it’s about damn time that we live in a society that doesn’t treat human beings as so much cannon fodder, that demands ignorance and obedience and cruelty to survive, that isn’t a democracy in name only. And we’re here because the reigning paradigm just doesn’t have its shit together.
    SDS are not Democrats
Nor is SDS Democracy for America. We're more international. We're more rad, y'know.
    Past Shit We've Done
    Fall 2009
We're working on it. It takes some time to build the revolution. Sheesh.
Brought film-makers of "Shelter: A Squatumentary" on Oct 14th.
Sent a coterie of 5 to Pittsburgh to face off against global capital in the form of the G20 Sept 23-25. Was this the first militant anti-capitalist action that Brandeis students have been a part of?
Sent 7 to the NE Convention in Rochester, NY Oct 23-25. Learned a ton. Got mad props.
    Spring 2009
We brought Bill Ayers. With DFA, and the help of some departments and grants. He's a nice guy.
Began "Tune In, Turn On, Drop Out" - weekly discussion of culture, politics, theory, pop, news, etc. from our viewpoint. We're grabbing the Media + Message.
The Student Union is a trap. The elections are a sham. We campaigned for Pigasus for Student Union Dictator. It was big.
    Worked to organize a Boston-wide teach-in. Success.
Responded to the Brandeis budget crisis. Worked with other groups to form the Brandeis Budget Cut Coalition. Had many meetings. So many meetings. Got at least some token student voices onto the faculty committees to handle some of the crisis.
    Fall 2008
Began "Radical Film Nights" - weekly film viewing and discussion.
Participated in the mass march against the wars in Boston on October 11th.
    Spring 2008
Worked heavily with Boston SDS and members across the region to put together the 2008 NE SDS Regional Convention
    Before 2008?
A ton of stuff. We once were the Radical Student Alliance. Then SDS happened. Interesting, eh?
Once tried to kick Coke off campus... campus wasn't ready for it. Drank killer-coke.
Participated in setting up the new SDS.

Anddrug rehab centers in indiana And by outreach
Anything where you take the initiative to get out there and get other people who otherwise would not know or care about your club's work to know or care about your club's work.
The key word here is quantity. We're not talking about the stage where 20 people come to a movie and then you ask them to join the club. We're talking about just getting as many people interested as possible at once.

I'm a member of DFA and a former campus coordinator, and was also co-founder of Brandeis for Barack. In my senior year, I don't want to say I've seen it all, but I've seen a lot and learned a few things along the way. Email me or call me at 413-648-PHIL.

    Jourdan Cohen - jicohen@brandeis.edu
I'm a member of DFA, ARC, and SHOC, and I helped to found Join The Impact MA. I'm a junior, and I have no idea what I'll be doing in a year and a half, although my life's ambition is to be CJ on "The West Wing". In the meantime, I thrive off of being busy, so if you have an event that you need help with, let me know!

I founded InnermostParts.org, the Brandeis Activist blog. Ask me anything.

I'm more or less associated with ARC, FMLA, BLC, and CEL, among other things. I don't know what I'm doing most of the time. Being from the SF Bay Area, I really like nature and sexuality. Find me anytime.
